Fresh Fruits and Vegetables (FOR FREE!) in the South Bronx!
Imagine picking fresh scallions for an Asian fusion stir-fry. Now, imagine doing that in the waters off New York City. Now you won’t have to imagine it. The floating food forest, Swale, is officially here and it’s currently docked along the Bronx River at Concrete Park. Visitors will be able to pick their produce, and keep it for free! Among the options will be the aforementioned scallions, rosemary, blueberries, wild leek, radicchio, ramps, sea kale and much, much more. Swale will be docked in the Bronx from now until August 20th, before moving along to other sites in New York City. Operating hours are Wednesday through Sunday, from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Concrete Plant Park is a public park in the South Bronx. It consists of 7.39 acres located on the west bank of the Bronx River between Westchester Avenue and Bruckner Boulevard.
